    Dr. Wei Wu is an Associate Professor and Associate Department Chair in the Department of Toxicology at Nanjing Medical University, China, where he received his Ph.D. in Toxicology in 2012. He was a guest researcher at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) between 2017 and 2018.
    He is a member of different national and international societies in the fields of human reproduction and toxicology, and has received awards from many national societies for the originality and quality of his projects. He has a wide range of teaching and consulting experience, including in the area of toxicology. His research interests include epigenetic mechanisms of transgenerational effects of male infertility induced by endocrine disrupting chemicals, environmental exposure, and male reproductive health, genetic and epigenetic risk factors of male infertility and abnormal fetal growth.
    Prof. Wu has authored 72 peer-reviewed papers in international journals such as EBioMedicine, Clinical Epigenetics, Environment International, Toxicological Sciences, Scientific Reports, Human Reproduction, and Molecular Human Reproduction. He has edited four books and collaborated on ten books, 11 patents and in the organization of three international conferences. He is a reviewer of 62 journals. Prof. Wu serves as the Editor-in-Chief of an international scientific journal International Journal of Sexual Health and Reproductive Health Care, Executive Editor of Annals of Molecular and Genetic Medicine, Associate Editor of the JSM Invitro Fertilization, and editor of many other journals including Scientific Reports and Medicine.

    Dr. Wei Wu research interests includes male reproductive health, reproductive toxicology, pregnancy complications, abnormal birth outcomes, epigenetics and fetal growth, genetics, polymorphism, reproductive epidemiology, and environmental epidemiology.

    My journey in conducting biological research began during my undergraduate when I had a chance to work in Dr. Min Wu’s lab in Wuhan University, China to study a potential cancer casual genetic variant in cultured cells. This experience ignited my passion to pursue a long-term career in research. Eager to expand my horizons, I applied for graduate school immediately after undergraduate and joined the Ph.D. program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at University of Rochester. I began my Ph.D. research in Dr. Peng Yao’s lab focusing on the role of RNA-binding proteins in RNA processing. It was during this time I realized how my work could be enriched by employing powerful high-throughput sequencing techniques and bioinformatic analysis. Motivated by this realization, I began learning both the experimental and analytical aspects of sequencing techniques. I was later granted a sabbatical in Dr. Lai Wei’s lab in Yat-sen University, China, where I accumulated enough knowledge and experience regarding sequencing analysis. Levering this knowledge, I established a bioinformatic branch upon returning to the Yao Lab and applied sequencing to all projects in the lab, analyzing sequencing data generated by myself and collaborators. After completing my Ph.D. Therefore, I joined as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Jin Billy Li’s lab at Stanford University, where I will combine my knowledge in the field of RNA biology and bioinformatic skills to study the dsRNA processing, specifically, editing, in autoimmune diseases.

    I got a Ph.D. degree (Radiology) at Seoul National University, which is Top of University in Korea, and got a Post Doc training in the Department of Radiology at University of Pennsylvania.  To date, my studies have focused on the development of new biomarkers for diagnosis& therapeutic approach, and evaluation their ability by in vitro and in vivo experiments related with tumor and neuroscience. These day, I’m working to learn about a new therapeutic approach using alpha and beta emitted radioisotope labeled biomarker, quality control, drug formulation and stability.

    Research Interest: I am an expert in the fields of molecular imaging (PET, SPECT, CT, MRI, IVIS, microscope, confocal image), CDX modelling, radio-isotope related research, set up the assay protocol (Kd, Bmax, Ki), drug screening, validation of new biomarker by in vitro assay and in vivo experiments, ADME, and analysis of data. It was provided by peer-reviewed paper publication on molecular biology, radiology, and neuroscience fields. I’m interested in the development of new biomarkers for diagnosis and therapy, the binding mechanism of biomarkers, understanding pharmacological profiles of biomarkers, and estimating possibility of therapeutic use for clinical approach. Based on expanding skills and knowledge, I would like to contribute in the field of the development of new biomarkers for diagnosis and therapy by in vitro and in vivo studies.

    I am a Professor of Medical Genetics in Turkey and clinical geneticist with specific interest in neurodevelopmental disorders. I have extensive experience in next-generation and high-throughput molecular genetics, with special focus on the use of homozygosity mapping, linkage analysis and whole-exome sequencing in recessive forms of structural and functional abnormalities of the brain. I have successfully detected rare and somatic genetic variant identification in diverse range of diseases using high-throughput and next-generation genomics approaches at Yale. In the last five years, I have published papers in Cell, Science, Nature, Nature Genetics and Neuron including one of the first successful applications of exome sequencing in the identification of genetic basis of recessive forms of structural and functional abnormalities of the brain.

    I have served as a member of editorial boards, a reviewer in top-tier journals and conferences, and was invited to serve as a program committee member for international workshops and conferences as well. I established Medical Genetics Department and giving lectures to under and post graduate students, assisting in seminar groups or laboratories, and grading. Teaching activities are drawn from a diverse menu of lecture, laboratory, and seminar courses given at the undergraduate, graduate, and medical school level.
